I have the usual art classes at Herndon Community Center and I am hoping to see many of you there. I encourage you to take the Chinese Brush painting class if you love spring flowers as this will be the emphasis. The strokes you use are valuable in watercolor and acrylics as well. There is the added benefit of being able to recycle your painting in the collage classes I plan to teach in the near future.
April in Paris
Tomorrow I leave for "April in Paris" for real. I plan to do a series of drawings while cruising on a small ship. The trip begins in Nice, France and overland to Arles, where we embark on our ship and travel up the Rhome River to Avignon, Viviers, Tournon, Lyon and Macon, visiting the entire wonderful site along the way. I taught a workshop in St. Remy a number of years ago and know just where I want to stop and draw along the way. Last part of the trip will be spent in Paris with visits to Giverny and Versailles. I am hoping to develop a body of work for an exhibit at the Reston Community Center next November.
I am planning a similar trip to Italy next April so if any of you are interested, please let me know. I would love to have companions.
I received a very generous gift of beautiful collage papers from Jeanne Peterson a few weeks ago and they inspired me for the topic of my next exhibit at the Reston Art Gallery at Lake Anne in Reston. My show will be in the front room through the month of July. Thank you Jeanne! I plan to give a free demonstration of collage techniques every Sunday in July from 2-5 PM. I originally hoped to have a class and demonstration, but on reviewing the space it takes, I would be limited to only three people at a time, so it will be more demonstrations on techniques. I hope many of you can attend.
